Burton Nature Preserve
Indiana Natural Areas: Fulton County

View of Adjacent Wetlands
This large (130 acre) preserve features trails adjacent to Lake Manitou, including parts of the Manitou Islands Wetland Conservation Area and Nature Preserve. Old lanes and clearly defined paths intertwine with a large network of unofficial side trails. Many of the latter explore small upland areas adjacent to the lake and wetlands. You’ll enjoy views of Lake Manitou, see occasional wildflowers, and perhaps spot ducks and geese from the trail or occasional viewing stands. DNR appears to manage some of the areas away from the lake as pheasant habitat. Not my favorite preserve, but worth a stop.
